All-New BMW M6 Gran Coupe Officially Introduced, Goes on Sale Next Year [30 Photos]

Joining the existing Coupe and Convertible body styles of the M6 series is a third variant based on the so-called Gran Coupe, which is BMW talk for a sportier looking sedan model.

A few hours after we shared the first pictures of the M6 Gran Coupe, BMW came out with more photos and full details on its latest offering that will arrive in European dealerships in May, 2013, with a starting price of €128,000 (about US$167,000) in Germany, which places it between the Coupe (€124,000) and the Convertible (€131,400 ) M6s in terms of pricing.

North American sales will begin in the summer of the same year, with pricing to be announced, though, if BMW's German pricing strategy is anything to go by, it should cost around US$110,000.

As the sedan version of the M6 Coupe and Convertible series, the Gran Coupe features the same mechanical and aesthetic upgrades as the two other models with the added weight and practicality that comes with the two extra doors and 113mm (4.45 inches) longer wheelbase.

BMW's M6 Gran Coupé features the same bespoke styling cues and aerodynamic parts as its two-door brethren. These include a carbonfibre reinforced plastic roof, different bumpers, side skirts, a rear diffuser flanked by twin exhaust pipes on either side, 20-inch wheels, plus chrome trims on the double kidney grille and fender air vents.

Usually, buyers of new BMW models who prefer a sportier appearance for their cars, first look at the Bavarian automaker's optional M aero packages before making their way to the aftermarket chains.

Hamann Motorsports believes that there's no reason why the two can't be blended together and has released a selection of styling components designed specifically for the BMW 6-Series Coupe (F13) and Convertible (F12) models equipped with the firm's M aerodynamic package.

New BMW M6 Coupe Boosted to 631-Horses by G-Power

There's no such thing as too much power when it comes to BMW tuning specialist and maker of some of the fastest Bimmers in the world, G-Power.

For its latest effort, the German brand is raising the pulse on the new BMW M6 Coupe (F13) with a performance package that starts with the 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 lifting output from 553hp (560PS) and 680Nm (501 lb-ft) to 631hp (640PS) and 770Nm (568 lb-ft) – the same as G-Power's M5 tune.

Fresh Photos of the All-New BMW M6 Gran Coupé

Here's a new batch of images of the most powerful and sportiest model to grace the range of the BMW 6-Series Gran Coupé to date, courtesy of the brand's M division.

These pictures come into the light after a previous (and admittedly, more revealing) set of photos were posted on Chinese website, and which we shared with you earlier today.

The new M6 Gran Coupé won't be making its online debut until the first days of December, when we will have more information on the car, while its public premiere will take place at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in mid-January.

Spy Shots: New BMW M6 Gran Coupe Exposed During Nürburgring Event

BMW sure chose a strange way to unveil the production version of its upcoming M6 Gran Coupe. The German carmaker brought the sports sedan along to an unrelated happening at the Nürburgring, and unsurprisingly, a few journalists attending the event did not miss out on the opportunity to snap a few pictures of the camouflage-free model.

The Bavarian brand did not release any information regarding the M version of the Gran Coupe, which itself, despite the confusing name, is a four-door sedan iteration of the 6-Series Coupe.

Nevertheless, we already know that the M6 Gran Coupe shares its powertrain with the two-door M6 models (coupe and convertible), meaning there's a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 553hp (560PS) delivered from 6,000 to 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 680Nm (501 lb-ft) from 1,750 to 5,750 rpm, lurking under the hood.

Oops…Large Crane Falls and Crushes Rare Jaguar XKR-S and BMW 6-Series Coupes

An automotive dealer from the small Belgium village Gits was in for a nasty surprise earlier this week when a large crane trying to position a huge fuel tank for a new gas station being built right next to his shop tipped over and crushed a pair of cars parked on the lot.

The two vehicles were a rare Jaguar XKR-S coupe (the 2008 model), of which only 200 examples were built for the European market and one he reportedly had just…sold for €150,000 (US$194,000), and a previous generation BMW 630i Coupe.

Spied: New BMW M6 Gran Coupe Nabbed without any Camouflage

The performance edition of BMW's new 6-Series Gran Coupe has been captured "naked" in the Bavarian firm's factory while the car was on a lift for service. The photo was posted on Twitter by a Dutch BMW dealer called "BMW De Beier"

From this angle, we can see the new M6 Gran Coupe's large alloy wheels with brake discs to match along with other traditional "M" cues such as the mirrors, sculpted side skirts and fender vents.

If we're not mistaken, there's also another M6 Gran Coupe finished in black parked behind the silver car on the hoist.
